Shine bright like a diamond

I migrated to New York City when I joined The Spa at Chelsea Piers. Our ultra-luxe retreat was housed in Manhattan’s most beautiful fitness facility, home to countless health & wellness devotees. Chelsea Piers is where I took my first yoga classes and was introduced to the concepts of self-care, clean diet, massage, acupuncture… so many holistic healing modalities.

With the intention to learn strategic business building, I joined the management team at Wall Street Systems, a financial services firm where I gained the opportunity to apprentice with C-level executives. I began as Executive Assistant and later transitioned to roles in Sales and Account Management. My work offered me the opportunity to experience several international locales — Prague, Barcelona, Paris, London, Corsica, as well as all over the US, to Boston, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and more. The perspective I accessed through working with diverse populations and cultures has proven incomparable and invaluable. I worked on several million-dollar acquisitions and augmented my business expertise with roles at ION Trading and SuperDerivatives, where I had the chance to study in Israel and visit Jerusalem and the Dead Sea — unparalleled spiritual sites that I recommend visiting highly.

In 2014, I completed my first Yoga Teacher Training through Vessel Academy (formerly Sarva Yoga Academy), which was the beginning of my complete immersion in the study and practice of lineage-based yoga. I advanced my studies in Restorative Yoga, meditation and therapeutic applications of yoga across New York at ISHTA, Integral Yoga Institute, and Yoga Shanti.

I spent a good bit of the next year in New Orleans, where I had the opportunity to work on several entrepreneurial projects and further embody the yogic path. I founded a pop-up art gallery experience in the French Quarter called White on Burgundy. Through this project, we created a conscious, collaborative community experience to connect local artists, food artisans, and consumers in a contemplative, intimately connected space. During my renaissance period in New Orleans, I had the unparalleled opportunity to learn from the team at Swan River Yoga and helped with the opening of Good Karma Plant-Based Cafe, when I adopted a completely green lifestyle. At Swan River, I studied postural alignment, advanced yogic meditation techniques, hands-on adjustments, and therapeutic application of yoga asana with Michelle Baker and Kelly Haas and had the chance to practice deeply, away from the bustle of busy city life.

In 2015, I returned to Manhattan’s finance industry, joining the executive team at Strategic Insight. I also began teaching yoga and meditation at Three Jewels NYC, where I also started seriously studying Buddhist philosophy. I completed Meditation Teacher Training, offered my first urban retreat, and launched special event series like Sangha Sound Bath and Deep Dive Restorative sessions in collaboration with talented teachers like Ryan Kenney and Sierra Alea. Soon, I became Director of Yoga and was part of the management team to open Three Jewels’ flagship location in Manhattan’s East Village. I launched Three Jewels’ Yoga Teacher Training program and just rolled out our second training, with additional programming in the works.

I have always worked closely with Michael Hewett and recently partnered with him on the formation of Vessel Academy. Vessel offers authentic yoga instruction in its most pure form: one-to-one, through intimate, regular group sessions and on retreat, a vital aspect for urban practitioners who wish to rapidly advance their practice. We open our first custom-designed space on 5th Avenue this Spring and will travel to Tuscany, Italy in August for our Trance & Transcendence retreat… join us!

In January 2019, I spent two weeks on retreat in Southern India to study ancient Ayurvedic yoga with Sarah Tomlinson. My current academic focus is on Ayurveda and Astrological alignment under Sarah’s guidance. I have also practiced on retreat (some fully silent) in Nicaragua, Mexico, Florida and other locations… I consider retreat vital for integration and honest reflection to move deeply inward to a place of clarity and wisdom.
