Shine bright like a diamond

I migrated to New York City when I joined The Spa at Chelsea Piers. Our ultra-luxe retreat was housed in Manhattan’s most beautiful fitness facility, home to countless health & wellness devotees. Chelsea Piers is where I took my first yoga classes and was introduced to the concepts of self-care, clean diet, massage, acupuncture… so many holistic healing modalities.

With the intention to learn more about how to build businesses, I joined the management team at Wall Street Systems - a financial services firm where I apprenticed with C-level executives. I began as Executive Assistant and later transitioned to roles in Sales and Account Management. My work offered me the opportunity to travel all over — Prague, Barcelona, Paris, London, Corsica, and around the US from NYC to Boston, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and more. The perspective I accessed through working with people all over the world has proven invaluable. I worked on several million-dollar acquisitions and furthered my business experience at ION Trading and SuperDerivatives, where I had the chance to study in Israel and visit Jerusalem and the Dead Sea — unparalleled spiritual sites that I highly recommend experiencing.

In 2014, after several years of increasing curiosity in dharmic philosophy, I completed my first Yoga Teacher Training through Vessel Academy (formerly Sarva Yoga Academy). This time period marked the beginning of my complete immersion in the study and practice of authentic, lineage-based yoga. I advanced my studies in Restorative Yoga, meditation and breath & movement therapy across New York at studios like ISHTA, Integral Yoga Institute, Jivamukti, Pure Yoga, and Yoga Shanti.

I spent a good bit of the next year in New Orleans, where I had the opportunity to work on several entrepreneurial projects and further embody the yogic path. I founded a pop-up fine art event series in the French Quarter called White on Burgundy. Through this project, we created a conscious, collaborative community connecting local artists, food artisans, and consumers in a contemplative, intimately connected space.

During my renaissance period in New Orleans, I had the unparalleled opportunity to study at Swan River Yoga. I helped with the opening of Good Karma Plant-Based Cafe, when I learned so much about compassionate cooking and conscious living. At Swan River, I studied postural alignment, advanced meditation techniques, hands-on adjustments, and therapeutic applications of yoga asana with Michelle Baker and Kelly Haas. It was a precious time for deep practice, away from the bustle of busy city life (although New Orleans is nowhere close to a sleepy retreat town)!

In 2015, I returned to Manhattan’s finance industry, joining the executive team at Strategic Insight. I began teaching yoga & meditation at Three Jewels NYC, simultaneously studying Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. I continued training intently and began teaching in-depth workshops. As Director of Yoga, I was part of the management team to open Three Jewels’ flagship location in Manhattan’s East Village. I launched our Yoga Teacher Training program with 300-hr and 200-hr immersion trainings and continue to create opportunities for NYC’s yoga community.

I recently partnered with my long-time teacher, Michael Hewett, on the formation of Vessel Academy. We opened our 5th Avenue space in 2019. Vessel offers authentic yoga instruction in its most pure form: one-to-one, through intimate group sessions and on retreat - a vital aspect for urban practitioners to rapidly advance their practice. I have practiced on retreat (some fully-silent) around the world. I consider retreat vital for integration and honest reflection for clarity. We will travel to Tuscany in August for our Trance & Transcendence retreat… join us!

In January 2019, I spent two weeks on retreat in Southern India to study ancient Ayurvedic yoga with Sarah Tomlinson. My current academic focus is on Ayurvedic Astrology and alignment under Sarah’s guidance.
